Id, or stinky primo?

Is the Id it really worth the $$$$? I've been looking at a kona stinky primo, and it seems like a comparable bike for less dough. What's the general opinion out there? Why is the Id better? -Bruce.

RELEASED email package version 2.4

I've just released the (standalone) email package version 2.4. This is identical to the version that is in the current cvs development tree for Python 2.3. It is also the version that I plan to back port to Python 2.2.2. I've also done a massive update to the web site documentation. Thanks to Fred Drake, the latter is actually in a usable format. :) email 2.4 is made available as a distutils package for installing in earlier versions of Python. It is compatible with Python 2.1.3, Python 2.2.1, and Python 2.3 cvs. email 2.4 is backward compatible with email version 1, which was released as part of Python 2.2.1. The email package is a library for parsing, handling, and generating email messages and other RFC 2822 style documents. It conforms to most of the email related RFCs including 2045-2047 (the MIME RFCs) and 2231. It is intended to replace several older modules in the standard distribution, such as rfc822, mimetools, multifile, mimify, and MIMEWriter, and such non-standard modules as mimecntl. email-2.4.tar.gz is available from the mimelib project on SourceForge: http://sf.net/projects/mimelib More information, as well as on-line documentation is available on the home page: http://mimelib.sf.net As this is the version I plan to back port to Python 2.2.2 in a few days, feedback, either on the code or the documentation, will be welcome. Help mi please with optimalization of simple Python code

Hello,, I have written my first simple application in Python and I have a problem that processing of cca 10MB file takes ages (30 seconds). I think that problem is in data structure used. Could you please give me an advice how to optimize the following piece of code? Thank you in advance. Dalibor while y<maxY : x=0 line = file.read(maxX*2) while x<maxX : val = ord(line[x*2+2])*256 + ord(line[x*2+3]) ... here are some contditions which count the occurences of unique values of val x=x+2 y=y+2 I think that main problem is in usage of string "line" but I do not know how to it different way.

inheritance problem

hi, i have the following problem: i'm using GLUT to create an opengl application but this is not important let's say i'm using an api which uses callback functions for things like onkeypress etc... now i want to wrap it in an object-oriented manner: the basic problem is that how to route the event-handlers to the correct instances... i solved it like this: i created a base class ( let's call it BaseClass): its constructor does some basic initialization, then creates a new window, and receives a windowID... this is an unique number... so he saves the windowID + self in a dictionary then he registers the callback functions.. the callback functions work like this: def KeyPressCallback(key): currentWindowID = glutGetWindow() instance = objects[currentWindowID] instance.KeyPress(key) and so on and of course the base class had some methods which were empty ones, to be overriden by the inherited class's methods so for example: def displayData(self): #this method is called from opengl.. pass then i created an inherited class (let's call it InheritedClass): and override displayData but there's the problem: in that windowIDdictionary, the type of the self's is BaseClass, so it won't call InheritedClass's methods :-(((( any ideas how to do this correctly? as i know there is nothing like casting in python :-(( i have some solutions like the inerited class's constructor will have to manually call a method in the baseclass.... but i wanted to make it a way, so the inherited class doesn't have to deal with the baseclass, except for the constructor... thanks, gabor -- That's life for you, said McDunn. cross correlation

I could not find the cross correlation function in either numpy or pygsl. I notices that pygsl implements the autocorrelation and covariance functions, but not cross correlation. Before I write my own, I was wondering if anyone has or knows of a numpy extension which provides this. Thanks, John Hunter
