Unfortunately, after several minutes of searching on www.python.org I didn't find them (which may denote that something is wrong with me or with python.org). Piecemeal script interpretation via C API

It is possible to interpret a script in chunks using C API functins? In other words, once you have called Py_CompileString and you have a PyObject for the compiled script (?), can you evaluate the object piece meal so that your program can take care of other important updates, etc? Thanks Martin

newbie permission problem

I am new to python. I have a small program that deletes small jpeg files, but I am getting a permission error, even though I am the owner of the file and the directory has 777 permission. I have WIN XP Pro. I have mks toolkit "ls" command. problems with shelve

I used shelve to build a dictionary with 100 elements. I saved the file (on Linux) and reaopened it on Windows, but I noticed a strange behaviour. Let's call dic the shelve opened, the command "len(dic)" returned 89 but "len(dic.keys())" "len(dic.values())" "len(dic.items())" returned 100. I dumped the shelve on a real dictionary and then I dumped this dictionary in to another shelve. len() on this new shelve returned 93. Alex Martelli told me that probably I should open the file in binary mode on Windows ... but I don't know how. This is the syntax of shelve.open: open( filename[,flag='c'[,protocol=None[,writeback=False[,binary=None]]]]) binary is deprecated, and however I tried it but nothing changed. flag refers to the opening for reading/writing ... protocol is the protocol used by cPickle How can manage on different platforms the same shelve? -- XPN :: http://xpn.altervista.org

Processing a MySQL Dump file with Python

Hi there, I need to parse a textfile (~400 MByte) which represents a complete MySQL dump (including table definitions and data records) . How can I process a MySQL dump file with python? Is there any Python module that can parse MySQL dump files -- or can I somehow call the MySQL interpreter in background to pass the dump file to it so the SQL Dump is imported in order to write the tables and data into the MySQL database? Resource limits are the first issue that comes to mind for me, followed by kernel versions (esp. if you're running a 2.2 or earlier kernel for some reason).
