Python to C++ in a pickle

I'd like to pickle an object in python and unpickle it in C++. The object in question is a python dictionary so it will have to go into a C++ map. Has someone done this and is willing to share? Or, is the cPickle source available on the web somewhere? Larry

Creating interactive command-line Python app?

Hello All, Newbie to Python, and I'm wondering if it's possible to create a Python console app that prompts for further input on the command line when run (in Windows XP, if that's important)? I've tried Googling, but the results are overwhelmingly about interactive Python environments (IPython etc etc), instead of how to achieve prompting at the command line when running your own Python app. Any help appreciated! Much warmth, planetthoughtful

Need some help with NetGroupAddUser

New B question -- Need help with win32net.NetGroupAddUser. I used Mark Hammond sample code to create a new user from his book Python Programming on Win32. I then added one line to add the newuser to a group. def CreateUserAndShare(userName, fullName): homeDir = "%s\\%s" % (serverName, userName) # Create user data in information level 3 (PyUSER_INFO_3) format. userData = {} userData['name'] = userName userData['full_name'] = fullName userData['password'] = userName userData['flags'] = win32netcon.UF_NORMAL_ACCOUNT | win32netcon.UF_SCRIPT userData['priv'] = win32netcon.USER_PRIV_USER userData['home_dir'] = homeDir userData['home_dir_drive'] = "P:" userData['primary_group_id'] = ntsecuritycon.DOMAIN_GROUP_RID_USERS userData['password_expired'] = 1 # User must change password next logon. # Create the user win32net.NetUserAdd(serverName, 3, userData) win32net.NetGroupAddUser(serverName, "Administrator", userName) This is my error: pywintypes.api_error: (2220, 'NetGroupAddUser', 'The group name could not be found.') Hello, is it that my know-how to use Google is insufficient or... ...does really noone use Python for industrial control applications? At least I didn't manage to find any publicly available modules for such things as OPC/fieldbus communication etc... TIA, best regards, Wolfgang Keller

Python OPC -wrapper for data collection, anyone seen it ?

Has anybody seen OPC -wrapper done in python ? In industry OPC -servers are breaking thru. It is a microsoft based technoloqy to gather process information. Many Control System manufacturers have their own OPC -servers. There exists a visual basic wrapper -library so that one write VB - programs to enquire data from OPC -server.Wrapper done to python would be cool. Mark Hammond was not interested, but I am not giving up yet... -pekka-

Hello, I use an OPC server for connection to DC Drive. I would like to write a small OPC client. I have the dll OPCDAAuto.dll which contains all class and method but I wonder if its possible to instance in python the class that are in the dll ? Thanks for your help . Pierre

newbie - Does IDLE care about sitecustomize.py?

I have the following test script in the file customize.py # C:\Python24\Lib\site-packages\sitecustomize.py print "test text from sitecustomize" If start Python from command prompt I get C:\Python24>python test in sitecustomize Python 2.4.1 (#65, Mar 30 2005, 09:13:57) [MSC v.1310 32 bit (Intel)] on win32 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. which shows that sitecustomize.py works Now if I start IDLE I only get IDLE 1.1.1 >>> which shows that that IDLE doesn't care about sitecustomize.py Am I missing something or how do you customize if you are using IDLE?
