I'd like to inform the Python community that the powerful and popular Template Toolkit system, previously available only in its original Perl implementation, is now also available in a beta Python implementation: http://tt2.org/python/index.html I created this port both as a fun programming project, and for use in environments where Perl is not available, for reasons technical, cultural, or otherwise. The extensive Perl test suites have also been ported, and most templates require no or very little modification. Discussion of the Python implementation should be conducted on the main Template Toolkit developer mailing list; see the site above for details.

Pybuez Client sending messages to j2me Server

I have a problem with recieving requests on j2me based bluetooth server using RFCOMM. I can send messages from the j2me client to python server, but cant receive from the python bluetooth client to j2me server, it only connects but doesnt receive??.I can send copy of code on request. I'm using pybluez on python 2.6 and standard javax.bluetooth for the mobile interface. Any help wud be welcome. Thanks in advance.

comparing alternatives to py2exe

Hi, Recently I put together this incomplete comparison chart in an attempt to choose between the different alternatives to py2exe: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tZ42hjaRunvkObFq0bKxVdg&output=html Columns represent methods of deploying to end-users such that they don't have to worry about installing Python, packages or other dependencies. 'Bundle' represents manually bundling an interpreter with your app. 'Bootstrap' represents a fanciful idea of mine to include an installer that downloads and installs an interpreter if necessary. This sounds fiddly, since it would have to install side-by- side with any existing interpreters of the wrong version, without breaking anything. Has anyone done this? The remaining columns represent the projects out there I could find which would do the bundling for me. Are there major things I'm missing or misunderstanding? Perhaps folks on the list would care to rate (+1/-1) rows that they find important or unimportant, or suggest additional rows that would be important to them. Maybe an updated and complete version of this table would help people agree on what's important, and help the various projects to improve faster. Best regards, Jonathan

daemon.DaemonContext and logging

I'm finally getting around to trying out the python-daemon module and have hit a wall. I'm trying to set up logging inside of the "with daemon.DaemonContext" block. i get : IOError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor when i have logging and using daemon.DaemonContext() i tried passing : fh = logging.handlers.TimedRotatingFileHandler(LOG_FILENAME, 'midnight', encoding='utf-8') with : context = daemon.DaemonContext() context.files_preserve=[fh] but no good what am i doing wrong?

According to docs the return value of prompt_user_passwd() method should be a tuple (user, password), but there is no user when authenticating with certificate. So how should I use this method? Python OPC -wrapper for data collection, anyone seen it ?

Has anybody seen OPC -wrapper done in python ? In industry OPC -servers are breaking thru. It is a microsoft based technoloqy to gather process information. Many Control System manufacturers have their own OPC -servers. There exists a visual basic wrapper -library so that one write VB - programs to enquire data from OPC -server.Wrapper done to python would be cool. Mark Hammond was not interested, but I am not giving up yet... -pekka-
