Drag and drop apps?

Just curious, has anyone ever managed to make a drag-and-drop MacOS app with Python? I'd love to make an image-batch-processing app that works this way (to pad photos to match my extra-wide Powerbook 17' screen). In the hopes of avoiding some redundant work...I happen to be sitting in a workshop at the Apple campus as I speak, and one of the Apple engineers here has just modified the Apple 2.3.5 build system to work with 2.4.2, and to build a Universal version of Python 2.4.2. I haven't run a full suite of tests, but it does appear to work. He has promised that he's going to post those changes to the pythonmac.org wiki Real Soon Now, hopefully today. There is a problem with it, which is that it builds into /System/Library/Frameworks. I've sent him email asking for that to change, but I don't know where that will end up. Nonetheless, many of the problems have already been solved, and hopefully the (intermediate) result will be posted very soon. Dave forgot to CC the list... but if you want readline support for Apple Python 2.3 you can download the package from http:// pythonmac.org/packages/ and there are eggs up on Cheese Shop for use with easy_install. Note also that ActiveState's Python 2.4.2 also ships sans-readline due to license (same reason as Apple). I don't have a package for that, but there is an egg. -bob

py2app 0.3 stable?

Is py2app 0.3 stable? I see that it's the latest version in the svn repository, but I see no download on his website. I also see 0.2.1 in the repository, but I'm not sure what revision number would be considered stable for that version. I did attempt to use 0.3 and got errors. I'll attempt to diagnose those after I figure out whether it's even meant to be used or not.... Justin

I am seeking a dead simple CRUD example of using the SQLobject, geared toward the python newbie with bad habits from other programming languages. I found this article, which is pretty good but a question or two still linger. http://www.devx.com/dbzone/Article/22093/ I clicked around Ian Bickling's site and learned a bit. LaunchServices and (appscript and) Intel Mac?

Hello all, I wanted to get appscript up and running on my Intel mac. I installed Tiger23Compat.pkg, and Python23Compat, which installed LaunchServices. UpArrow for previous command

On my old imac when working interactively with python in 'Terminal' I could get previous commands by hitting up arrow (or down arrow). I can't remember how I set that up and I have been unable to get the same feature on my newer iMac g5. Have searched message archives without success. Mac Intel Python status?

What's the current status of any semi-official build of Python on Intel? We actually need to build it without readline support, haven't been able to figure out how (configure --without-readline doesn't seem to do it). It builds if we download Gnu readline and install it, but without that the build fails. Actually, what I'm really after is a Universal binary version. Has anybody built one? If so, is it available?
