Hello, I'm trying to join two .wav files with the wave module. Is this true? If so, is there any way I can convert my wave files into a supported kind? Thanks!

Hi, Is there a function that takes a file path with a mapped drive (z:\blah) and returns the associated UNC path (\\server\share\ding\dang\dong\blah)? I looked in os.path, but it doesn't seem to have this. The link below seems to be a solution (code in the bottom of the page), but I can't install win32com.client in the office :-( Is there any built-in function? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2244767/python-check-network-map Thanks! Hi, I'm still on Python 2.6 and I'm trying to work some unicode handling. I've spent some hours on this snippet of code, trying to follow PEP 0263, since the error tells me to see it. I've tried other docs too and I am still clueless. The code works, except for the comment at the end. I would be very grateful for some help. #!/usr/bin/env python '''Unicode handling for 2.6. group txt files by month

I think what I am trying to do is relatively easy but can't get my head around how to do it. I have a list of txt files that contain daily rainfall for many years. I would like to produce a list that contains the year-month and the max, min and mean of rainfall for each month. My main question at this stage is how to group the files by each month for each year? They are set out like: r20110101.txt r20110102.txt r20110103.txt r20110104.txt r20110105.txt r20110106.txt r20110107.txt r20110108.txt r20110109.txt r20110110.txt r20110111.txt r20110112.txt r20110113.txt r20110114.txt r20110115.txt r20110116.txt r20110117.txt r20110118.txt and so on for each day for many years. so far I am able to open each file and calculate the max, min and mean for each file (see below) but not sure about grouping to monthly for each year. MainFolder=r"E:/Rainfalldata/" outputFolder=r"E:/test/" for (path, dirs, files) in os.walk(MainFolder): path=path+'/' for fname in files: if fname.endswith('.txt'): filename=path+fname f=np.genfromtxt(filename, skip_header=6) print f.max(), f.min(), f.mean() the ideal output would be something like: year-month max min mean 2010-12 100 0 50 2011-01 200 0 100 2011-02 50 0 25 any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hi All, I have been banging my head against a wall trying to figure it out. I'm getting a ImportError on a class that I know exists. Hi! Is there anyway to execute a block of code at the end of a program in 2.6 regardless of what happened before eg exiting normally or died because of an exception? I was thinking about maybe a free standing finally code block or a decorator. Any hints? Tino

Pydev + Remote System Explorer (RSE) : problems with local imports when working localy

Hello List, I'm very happy with PyDev plugin for Eclipse as a Python IDE (I'm on Eclipse 3.7, WinXP with latest Pydev). Recently I've installed the Remote System Explorer plugin for Eclipse which adds the ability to edit remote files on a server when I need it (awesome). Unfortunately it's messing my ability to work on some Python files locally on my PC (those with local imports): File "C:\Documents and Settings\myaccount\workspace\RemoteSystemsTempFiles\LOCALHOST\c\Documents and Settings\myaccount\workspace\myprojet\myfile.py", line 50, in ? ImportError: No module named mymodule (it works only if I "python myfile.py" in the command shell) I know some people of the list are using Eclipse and maybe they use RSE too. Do you know if I can easily deactivate RSE so I can run a python script normally (without the *localhost* inserting in the path) ? Is there a configuration to do to keep both ? I've tried to switch form perspective "remote systems" to perspective "pydev" but I have the same problem. Thanks. francois
