Scripting Calligra sheets with Python

I am trying to script Calligra Sheets (formerly KSpread) with python. I have gotten some of the included example scripts to run so I know python scripting is running. I found the following snippet on their website: import KSpread sheet = KSpread.view().sheet() # swap text of B5 and C6 t1 = sheet.text("B5") t2 = sheet.text(6,3) sheet.setText("B5", t2) sheet.setText(6, 3, t1) # swap value of D7 and E8 v1 = sheet.value("D7") v2 = sheet.value(8,5) sheet.setValue("D7", v2) sheet.setValue(8, 5, v1) Error: 'str' object has no attribute 'text' File "file:///usr/share/kde4/apps/sheets/scripts/extensions/myswap.py", line 4, in <module> This error message appeared in a dialog box. I've taught myself some Python but I don't understand what is happening here. Shouldn't t1 be a sheet object? What would cause it to be a str instead? Thanks, Jim

Wave module

Hello, I'm trying to join two .wav files with the wave module. But when I try to use wave.open(filename, "rb") I receive the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "F:\PortablePython1.0\lib\wave.py", line 483, in open return Wave_read(f) File "F:\PortablePython1.0\lib\wave.py", line 162, in __init__ self.initfp(f) File "F:\PortablePython1.0\lib\wave.py", line 143, in initfp self._read_fmt_chunk(chunk) File "F:\PortablePython1.0\lib\wave.py", line 264, in _read_fmt_chunk raise Error, 'unknown format: %r' % (wFormatTag,) wave.Error: unknown format: 85 I read somewhere that there are various wave formats, only some supported by Python. Is this true? If so, is there any way I can convert my wave files into a supported kind? Thanks!

getUncPath(mappedDrive)

Hi, Is there a function that takes a file path with a mapped drive (z:\blah) and returns the associated UNC path (\\server\share\ding\dang\dong\blah)? I looked in os.path, but it doesn't seem to have this. The link below seems to be a solution (code in the bottom of the page), but I can't install win32com.client in the office :-( Is there any built-in function? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2244767/python-check-network-map Thanks! keyboard interrupt

I made a simple ear frequency-tester, but I don't want it to go on forever, so I tried stopping it when I pressed a key, as below, but that doesn't work. I did check out keyboard interrupts but they seem unnecessarily complex just to stop a program. I'm not passing keys. Python 3.2.3 64 bit MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 I see python-dateutil recommended here from time to time, so I thought I'd try it out. I downloaded python-dateutil-2.1.tar.gz from http://pypi.python.org/pypi/python-dateutil but have forgotten how to unpack a .tar.gz file. Please remind me. Thanks, Dick Moores

Convert SOAP response (ArrayOfInt) to Python list

Thanks to the OSA library, which works for SOAP requests with Python 3.x, I can now use SOAP services at http://www.chemspider.com. The result is a list of accession numbers (which correspond to chemical compounds) and I get them in the following format: |(ArrayOfInt){ int[] = [ 5744, 69182, 292, 68027, 3404131, 82616, 18280, 11200, 704646, 543430 ... ] }| How could I transform this to a simple python list? |[5744, 69182, 292,68027, 3404131, 82616, 18280, 11200, 704646, 543430 ...]| Conversion to a numpy array (and subsequent |list()|, or similar) does not solve the problem, since the structure is maintained; the numpy.shape returns |()|. Suggestions?

Hello, I am trying to generate a 2D histogram for two arrays of data in CSV format. Python Trouble, Please Help!

Hello, I am currently working with the Python programming language and had a very basic question regarding the start up of Python. For some reason, when I open up the Command Prompt in my Windows 7 computer, I am unable to access python files. So when I type in the python command, I am able to start writing in python, but I cannot call other python files such as saying python helloworld.py. I think it might have something to do with where I am placing my files and the path of python? Not too sure though because of my lack of computer knowledge. When I do put in python helloworld.py into the command prompt line, the computer gives me a response of: "python: can't open file 'hello.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory." I know for a fact that there does exist a file called hello.py though. Please help me if you can! Sincerely, Python_Beginner

Converting a string to an integer

Anybody tell me what's going on?
