Scripting Calligra sheets with Python

I am trying to script Calligra Sheets (formerly KSpread) with python. I have gotten some of the included example scripts to run so I know python scripting is running. I found the following snippet on their website: import KSpread sheet = KSpread.view().sheet() # swap text of B5 and C6 t1 = sheet.text("B5") t2 = sheet.text(6,3) sheet.setText("B5", t2) sheet.setText(6, 3, t1) # swap value of D7 and E8 v1 = sheet.value("D7") v2 = sheet.value(8,5) sheet.setValue("D7", v2) sheet.setValue(8, 5, v1) Error: 'str' object has no attribute 'text' File "file:///usr/share/kde4/apps/sheets/scripts/extensions/myswap.py", line 4, in <module> This error message appeared in a dialog box. I've taught myself some Python but I don't understand what is happening here. Shouldn't t1 be a sheet object? What would cause it to be a str instead? Thanks, Jim

Wave module

Hello, I'm trying to join two .wav files with the wave module. But when I try to use wave.open(filename, "rb") I receive the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "F:\PortablePython1.0\lib\wave.py", line 483, in open return Wave_read(f) File "F:\PortablePython1.0\lib\wave.py", line 162, in __init__ self.initfp(f) File "F:\PortablePython1.0\lib\wave.py", line 143, in initfp self._read_fmt_chunk(chunk) File "F:\PortablePython1.0\lib\wave.py", line 264, in _read_fmt_chunk raise Error, 'unknown format: %r' % (wFormatTag,) wave.Error: unknown format: 85 I read somewhere that there are various wave formats, only some supported by Python. Is this true? If so, is there any way I can convert my wave files into a supported kind? Thanks!

getUncPath(mappedDrive)

Hi, Is there a function that takes a file path with a mapped drive (z:\blah) and returns the associated UNC path (\\server\share\ding\dang\dong\blah)? I looked in os.path, but it doesn't seem to have this. The link below seems to be a solution (code in the bottom of the page), but I can't install win32com.client in the office :-( Is there any built-in function? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2244767/python-check-network-map Thanks! keyboard interrupt

I made a simple ear frequency-tester, but I don't want it to go on forever, so I tried stopping it when I pressed a key, as below, but that doesn't work. I did check out keyboard interrupts but they seem unnecessarily complex just to stop a program. I'm not passing keys. Hej there, I am writing a to do list program in Python 3.0. Earlier this week, I shared my first iteration on the mailing list, and the feedback was that I should learn how to create, write to and read from a text file – which I did. Below please find my second iteration. I know my program is super cheesy & primitive, but I don’t care, it does what I expect it to do, and I will improve it in further iteration cycles. As of now, I want to understand how I can add further functionalities to my program such as: appending items to the list, removing and replacing items. Can anyone help? Regex Question

Hello, I have a TSV file that has the city,state,country information in this format: Name Display name Code San Jose SJC SJC - SJ (POP), CA (US) San Francisco SFO SFO - SF, CA (US) I need to extract the state and country for each city from this file. I'm trying to do this in python by using the following Regex: s=re.search(',(.*?)\(',text) if s: state=s.group(1).strip() c=re.search('\((.*?)\)',text) if c: country=c.group(1).strip() This works well for the state. But for country for San Jose, it brings the following: country = POP I think it maybe better to search from the end of the string,but I am unable to get the right syntax. Could you please share any pointers? Thanks!

Hi, my school is considering a massive shift to Chromebooks. I've to carefully think about how could the students go on writing their python programs on the web. Do you know any online interpreter where programs might be written, saved and modified. If sharing and collaborating were allowed, that would be a big plus. Cheers. -- Roberto

Hello! I'm using python v2.7.5 (IDLE). I'm trying to write a nine_line function that should use three_lines to print nine blanc lines. For some reason, I only print one line. Can you please provide me with some explanation? I would be very grateful!
