Scripting Calligra sheets with Python

I am trying to script Calligra Sheets (formerly KSpread) with python. I have gotten some of the included example scripts to run so I know python scripting is running. I found the following snippet on their website: import KSpread sheet = KSpread.view().sheet() # swap text of B5 and C6 t1 = sheet.text("B5") t2 = sheet.text(6,3) sheet.setText("B5", t2) sheet.setText(6, 3, t1) # swap value of D7 and E8 v1 = sheet.value("D7") v2 = sheet.value(8,5) sheet.setValue("D7", v2) sheet.setValue(8, 5, v1) Error: 'str' object has no attribute 'text' File "file:///usr/share/kde4/apps/sheets/scripts/extensions/myswap.py", line 4, in <module> This error message appeared in a dialog box. I've taught myself some Python but I don't understand what is happening here. Shouldn't t1 be a sheet object? What would cause it to be a str instead? Thanks, Jim

HELP I need help with Python Setup or to reach Marilyn Davis

I am at the point where I am just spinning my wheels. I tried to get help with logging on but so far I am just getting frustrated. I have a problem that I brought up the first night in class but couldn't seem to get help then. Sorry if I am at the point where I am totally frustrated and I need HELP. PLEASE. I did not turn in homework because of the fact that I can not run anything without getting a syntax error. I tried setting up a path for python environment variables and a few other things but I am getting no where. Can you give me some suggestions why I can't run anything. I have windows 7 on my home computer, and windows 8 on my laptop and they are both doing the same thing. So it has to be something I am doing or not doing. I really do not like being behind/late in anything so that is making me even more frustrated. I suppose I am even more frustrated and afraid to ask because I kink of got a slap in the face last time I took a course here and the instructor would not help. But that was a way different situation, I simply could not understand his English and then he told me he did not have any patience. Excuse me but I just about died when he, an INSTRUCTOR told me that. I worked at Stanford for 25 years and to hear an instructor say those words was unthinkable. Anyway you can maybe understand my reluctance to ask for help but I need help. Any suggestions?? When I use one of the computers at school everything works just fine. Except I can not get my own computer to log on when I am there. So again that is why I said it is my system and something in my set up that I don't have. Sorry for the long note, I was just letting out a little frustration. Wave module

Hello, I'm trying to join two .wav files with the wave module. Is this true? If so, is there any way I can convert my wave files into a supported kind? Thanks!

hi can you answer this question for me plz Modify the Guess My number program from this chapter so that the player has only five guesses. If the player run out of guess, the program should end the game and display an appropriately chastising message.

When to use multiprocessing Managers?

Hello tutors I'm curious about managers and when to use them. For example, I see they offer a Queue() for sharing a Q between processes, but if I create a Q in the parent process and pass it down to child processes, then they can put messages into that Q just fine, and I presume the same thing for other objects available under the managers package. So unless the other process is on a different machine, is there a reason to use a manager? Does anyone have any use case examples or snippets I could look at even? Thanks in advance James

win32api & win32gui help

Looking for a good simple remedial course on getting my python script to talk to a Windows program. The author of the windows program has documented the api here: http://www.logger32.net/help/Logger32/Using%20the%20Logger32%20External%20I… I'm struggling to understand how to implement the messages with win32api/ gui... I've taken a stab at it here with my goal being that I just want to 'register' with the program and receive the response from it. So far I'm still scratching my head over this... I get a response for 'hwnd' but have not been able to get any confirmation that RegisterMessage, PostMessage and GetMessage are working, configured properly or...what... running unittests on multiple OS, including non-Posix

Hi, I would like to run my unittests (--> nose) on multiple platforms. I also would like to test different python versions and implementations on each platform (--> tox [2]). These platforms also include Windows, so Travis CI or Docker is not an option. I was thinking about using Vagrant [3] to fire up VirtualBox [4] VMs for each platform-to-be-tested, then either (a) fire up nose or tox through SSH or (b) (the easy way) prepare each VM such that nose/tox is fire up right when the OS starts (ie., edit .bashrc, autoexit.bat or whatever it is called for the OS at hand. But this all feels like reinventing the wheel. Can you recommend a package or strategy to use? subprocess.call list vs. str argument

Hi, In the code below, cmd1 and cmd2 are equivalent, as in: " ".join(cmd1) == cmd2. But the first example returns a code 2, whereas the second runs successfully. What is the difference? I prefer using a list as it looks a little cleaner.
