Use HomePod as an Intercom
To keep everyone on the same page, you can send an Intercom message to all members of your home. For example, say βHey Siri, intercom βTime for dinner!ββ to bring them all to the table. You can also send Intercom messages to specific rooms or zones.
Note: Intercom is supported on iPhone with iOS 14.2 or later, iPad with iPadOS 14.2 or later, and Apple Watch with watchOS 7.1 or later.
Send an Intercom message
When you send an Intercom message, your voice message is sent to all the HomePod speakers in your home, and to the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch devices of all members of your home. By default, all members of your home receive Intercom notifications on their devices while theyβre at home.
Try any of the following examples using HomePod, iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch:
βHey Siri, intercom βWho ate the last biscuit?ββ
βHey Siri, announce βIβm home!ββ
βHey Siri, ask everyone where are my glasses?β
βHey Siri, let everyone know I found my glassesβ
βHey Siri, tell everyone Iβm taking the dog for a walkβ
βHey Siri, intercom βOn my way home, want me to pick anything up?ββ
To send a message to HomePod in a specific room or zone, say something like βHey Siri, tell the office βThe film is startingββ or βHey Siri, announce upstairs βIβm going to the shopsββ.
Reply to an Intercom message
After an Intercom message is played on HomePod, you can reply back. If the message was shared with the whole home, your reply is sent back to all the HomePod speakers in your home, and to the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch devices of all members of your home. If the message was sent to your specific room, your reply is sent only to the HomePod or device that sent the original message.
Try any of the following examples using HomePod, iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch:
βHey Siri, reply Iβll be right thereβ
βHey Siri, announce back just finishing my homeworkβ
