Open Incognito mode
Important: When you use an Incognito tab, you can browse more privately. You can switch between Incognito tabs and regular Chrome tabs.
- On your Android device, open Chrome

- At the top right, tap More
New Incognito tab.
- A new window opens.
- On the left of the address bar, you can find the Incognito icon

The error message "Taking screenshots isn't allowed by the app or your organization" appears because you can't take screenshots in Incognito mode. To take a screenshot, open the webpage in another tab.
Third-party cookies are blocked in Incognito by default. You can change this at any time from the toggle on the Incognito new tab page or Chrome settings. Learn more about cookies.
Lock Incognito tabs when you exit Chrome
When you leave Chrome for more than 15 seconds, Chrome locks your Incognito tabs automatically. To proceed when you return to the Incognito tabs, tap Continue.
- Authentication isn’t required.
- To lock Incognito tabs, you can use your device’s authentication method.
You can also lock Incognito tabs with your device's screen lock:
- On your Android device, open Chrome
.
- Tap More
Settings
Privacy and security.
- Turn on Lock Incognito tabs when you leave Chrome.
Under “Privacy and security,” you can set how to hide Incognito tabs. You can select either:
- Don’t hide
- Hide after 10 minutes
- Lock tabs immediately with screen lock
Close Incognito mode
If you open another tab in Incognito mode, your private browsing session continues in the new tab. To exit Incognito mode, close all Incognito tabs.
- On your Android device, open Chrome

- At the top right, tap Switch tabs

- At the top, tap Incognito tabs
.
- At the top right of an Incognito tab, tap Close
.
- Or, to close all Incognito tabs, tap More
Close all Incognito tabs.
- You can also close all Incognito tabs from the omnibox icon.
- Or, to close all Incognito tabs, tap More
