Passkeys are the simplest and most secure way to sign in to your account. To sign in with just your fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock, create a passkey.

Browse in Incognito mode

You can browse the web more privately in Incognito mode.

Open Incognito mode

Important: When you use an Incognito tab, you can browse more privately. You can switch between Incognito tabs and regular Chrome tabs.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then New Incognito Tab .
    • A new Incognito tab opens.
    • On the left of the address bar, you can find the Incognito icon . This icon now also serves as an entry point to Incognito controls.
Tips:
  • To check if you browse privately, tap Switch tabs Switch tabs. If your Incognito tabs are locked, you can find a lock or unlock icon.
  • To find if you have any open Incognito tabs, swipe right. At the top, an Incognito tab shows the Incognito icon . You can also find a lock or unlock icon on the Incognito tab switcher screen.

Switch between Incognito and regular tabs

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.

  2. Tap Switch tabs Switch tabs.
  3. To switch between Incognito tabs and regular Chrome tabs Switch tabs, swipe right or left.

Open links in Incognito mode

When you open a link from another app or a text message, you can choose to open the link in an Incognito tab in Chrome.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings Settings and then Privacy and Security.
  3. Turn Ask to open links from other apps in Incognito on or off.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, tap a link you want to open in Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap Open in Chrome Incognito.

Lock Incognito tabs when you switch between apps

Anyone who uses your device can access Incognito tabs left open. To keep your Incognito tabs open but hidden from other device users, you can lock your Incognito tabs.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings Settings and then Privacy and Security.
  3. Turn on Lock Incognito tabs when you close Chrome.

Lock Incognito tabs

  • Soft lock: By default, Soft lock is on. It automatically blurs your Incognito tabs after 15 seconds. To view your tabs, tap Continue in Incognito. No authentication is required.
  • Authentication lock: You can lock your Incognito tabs with your device's authentication, like Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode for additional security.
  • Lock Incognito tabs from the tab grid: To quickly lock your Incognito tabs, use a swipe shortcut on the tab grid.
  • Lock Incognito tabs from the menu or toolbar: If you have a device lock enabled, you can lock your Incognito tabs:
    • From the menu: Tap More More and then Lock Incognito Tabs.
    • From the toolbar: On the left of the address bar, tap Incognito and then Lock Incognito.

Close Incognito mode

If you open another tab in Incognito mode, your private browsing session continues in the new tab. To exit, close all Incognito tabs.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap Switch tabs Switch tabs.
  3. At the top, tap the Incognito icon .
  4. On the left, select Edit and then Close All Tabs.
