Tip: Updates can be large and may take some time. Before you update:
- Connect to Wi-Fi
- Charge your device to at least 75%

When you get a notification, open it and tap the update action.

If you cleared your notification or your device was offline, you can also download new software, security, and Play Store updates from the Settings app. Most system updates and security patches install automatically.
To check for available updates:
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap System
- For Google Play system updates, tap Google Play system update.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip: If no update is found, an update may not be available for your device yet. Restart your phone, and check the Pixel Community for updates.

Important:
- After a software update, your Pixel battery normally drains more than usual as the phone works to download, optimize, and set up the new software.
- Older devices can’t always run newer Android versions.

Let the update automatically try again
If an update starts downloading and doesn't finish, your device will automatically try again over the next few days. When it tries again, you'll get a notification. Open the notification and tap the update action.
