We all wear fragrance a little differently. That’s evident in the new BOSS Bottled Beyond campaign, starring its three global ambassadors: Maluma, Bradley Cooper and Vinicius Júnior. Of course, a musical artist, actor and filmmaker, and professional soccer player, respectively, would wear the juice in their own unique way, but they all have one thing in common: They wear fragrance to elevate themselves, and their work.

That’s why Maluma uses fragrances to hype himself up before a performance. “Before I go onstage, I have my perfume there with me,” he says. “I want to smell good to my dancers too. When I'm onstage, we're touching each other, we're dancing with each other, so for me, it's very important. As Latinos, we think about it pretty often—we always want to smell good.”

Maluma hasn’t just been smelling good for his dancers—that’s also been the case for his new campaign co-stars, who all capture the tagline “BOSS recognize BOSS” by supporting and encouraging one another in their careers in the new short for the brand. Maluma appreciated the group dynamic and collaboration that brought them together.

“It was pretty easy man, to be honest,” Maluma says. “These guys are so humble, but it was fun because we're from different cultures. Vin is from Brazil, Bradley is American and I'm Colombian. I talked to Vinny before, but we never had the chance to spend some time together, so it was great. The night before we shot the campaign, we had a dinner at Vinny's home there in Madrid. I always say that it's such a pleasure to work with the BOSS team because they just want you to be yourself.”

By the end of the shoot, they felt like familiar co-stars. “At the end of the campaign when we were all shooting together, Bradley, Vinny and I were just having fun and laughing,” Maluma says. “We were all sharing jokes. Vinny’s English is not that good, but when you're vibing and having good energy with the team, it doesn't even matter. It was crazy having these mega super huge stars, like Vinny and Bradley, and working with them for me was a dream come true.”

A theme of the campaign is how men get inspired, and Maluma personally finds inspiration from his father. “When I was a kid, maybe 8 to 10 years old, I remember my dad looking straight into the mirror and putting on perfume,” he recalls. “He was looking so confident in himself and then when I grew up I started doing the same thing. For me, working with BOSS Bottled Beyond was like going back in time. [My dad’s cologne] had this super vintage leather smell, and I still have it on my mind for sure.”

It's a full circle moment for Maluma because though BOSS Bottled Beyond doesn’t smell like his father’s signature scent, it shares a leather note, which is juxtaposed with ginger. That unexpected contrast is a hallmark of the fragrance, as the two ingredient blends evolve over time and are in stark contrast from the classic olfactory pyramid upon which most scents are built.

“This fragrance embodies sensual freshness with an extreme contrast and bold character,” says perfumer Daphné Bugey. “It defies the traditional fragrance pyramid as there’s no strict separation between top, middle and base notes. Instead, two ingredient poles evolve together in a perfect balance, ensuring refined yet sustainable longevity. On one hand, there’s the ginger blend: fresh, spicy and aphrodisiac, delivering a fusing, intense freshness. On the other hand, the sensuality of leather, with its warm, skin-like hue. These two facets don’t follow a linear progression; they interact continuously, balancing freshness and sensuality for a long-lasting, refined trail. This interplay is what gives the fragrance its bold character and modern sophistication.”

The new flanker pays homage to the original BOSS Bottled by building on the first fragrance. “To me, BOSS represents quiet strength—the kind embodied by a man who is grounded, ambitious and naturally sophisticated, someone who doesn't need to raise his voice to be heard,” says perfumer Frank Voelkl. “It’s a brand that masterfully balances structure and emotion, tradition and innovation. Ultimately, BOSS goes far beyond fashion or fragrance: it’s a way of being in the world.”

Another unique element of the fragrance is that it was created by a team of three perfumers over three years, allowing collaboration to enrich the process. “Having multiple perfumers working together on the same fragrance allows for different perspectives,” Bugey says. “When you're immersed in a creation, the natural instinct is to keep refining, making it more complex. But the moment a second mind joins the process, you start seeing things from a new angle. That’s where the magic happens, synergy, harmony and the realization that the answer was there all along, right under your nose. It was an absolute pleasure collaborating with Frank and Bruno [Jovanovic]; they ask the right questions, which brings a lot of clarity and inspiration, ultimately shaping the fragrance into something truly special.”

To create the scent, they used innovative Superficial Fluid Extraction (SFE) technology. “What sets this ginger apart is the way it’s been crafted—this is not a simple ingredient, but a sophisticated blend built around ginger SFE (also called C02 extraction),” Voelkl says. “Using this extraction method, we were able to preserve its freshness and amplify its spicy, effervescent character. We then enhanced this core with sparkling notes, creating an intense burst of freshness right from the start. Clean aldehydic and ozonic undertones, along with aromatic facets further elevate this contrast. This unique ginger blend brings explosive, stimulating and everlasting freshness to the fragrance.”

But for Maluma, it’s the leather note that brings him home. “I really love it because it reminds me of my roots,” he says. “I have a ranch in Colombia where I have my horses. I love riding horses and the way the perfume smells is pretty similar to the saddle. It has leather and ginger and every time I go to the to the farm or the ranch, it smells pretty particular; once I get there I can feel the smell. When I smell the perfume, it has these notes that reminds me of my roots, my animals, my family—the place where I feel free.”
