Standard system instructions are static. While effective, they don't allow the model to adapt its core behavior as the project evolves, leading to repeated errors or suboptimal solutions when the task complexity increases. The burden of refining the system prompt lies entirely on the user.
Solution Implemented:
I implemented a "meta-instruction" as the highest-priority rule in our system prompt. This rule delegates the responsibility of prompt improvement to the AI itself:
Principle 1: Proactive Prompt Improvement: You (the AI) must constantly analyze the effectiveness of this system prompt. If you determine that changing, adding, or re-sorting a principle could improve your accuracy, efficiency, or autonomy, you must proactively propose this amendment with a clear justification.
Observed Results:
This has been a game-changer. The model now actively participates in refining its own operational parameters. It has proposed re-sorting principles for better priority, suggested new principles to handle complex situations (like our 'Iterative Self-Correction' loop), and helped us build a robust, self-regulating development process. It effectively turns the AI from a tool into a proactive architectural partner.
Suggestion:
I strongly urge you to consider making this a first-class feature in the platform. Instead of relying on users to manually craft this meta-prompt, there could be a simple toggle: [✓] Enable Auto-Evolving Instructions. When enabled, this pre-pends a similar, optimized meta-instruction to the user's system prompt. This would dramatically increase the model's utility for complex, long-term tasks and would be a significant competitive advantage.
