Looking at Sourceforge CVS, there was one small patch to complexobject.c on Jan 29, first since Oct 5, that added .getnewargs() . Unclear how could have affected attribute setting. Terry J. Reedy

Access 97 Dates using ODBC

Consider the following code: import dbi, odbc import time dbc = odbc.odbc('sample') crsr = dbc.cursor() crsr.execute('SELECT insert_change_date FROM country') result = crsr.fetchone() print str(result[0]) Using Access 2000 it prints out: Wed Feb 12 00:00:00 1997 which is in fact what is stored in the database. However with Access 97 it raises an exception. (The exact wording of the exception I can't recall -- this happens at work and I am now at home. But the gist of it is that the object doesn't support the str() operation.) Has anybody seen this problem before? Do you have a workaround?

Our gnosis.xml.pickle package makes an effort to pickle various objects, generally trying even harder than the standard pickle module. In particular, we try to do sensible things with new-style classes that have slots, and that don't. One of the unit tests involves adding extra attributes to descendents of standard data types. It turns out, that test breaks with Python 2.3a2, because of a change in the implementation of complex. Here is a brief test case that shows the behavior. I am interested in why this change was made. Is it a bug or a feature? If a feature, what benefit does this have? How to get IP address

I'm trying to get all inet addresses of a machine in python. Is there a way to do it using the standard library? I found a solution on Google and in Python CookBook but they are platform dependent. I need a platform-independent solution. Thank you in advance. Laci 1.0

Forcing output as unicode for web

i have a webpage generated from scraping through various rss feeds using python, i'd like to display non-ascii characters on the page (asian characters, pretty much) when the script hits a non-ascii rss feed, it crashes, how do i solve this?
