I just downloaded PyXML-0.8.2 and tried to install using the directions in the README. pyopengl and OS X 10.2.3

Has anyone gotten pyOpenGL to run on OS X 10.2.3 with python 2.3? The last posting I was able to find dated from about a year ago, and that only reported limited success for pyOpenGl. I can see that glut is installed as a framework, but I am a bit hazy ( OK, totally ignorant) of how to use this built in capability. My ambition is to get pyopengl + tk(aqua) working. Thanks for any information. Jim

Install manager - more bits and pieces

If you build Python from CVS there's a GUI available to the Package Install Manager for Python. Compilation of Core PPC

(I apologize for bothering again with old stuff.) Were the source packages of MacPython (together with GUSI for MacPython) supposed to build out of the box even the pure-classic version of Python? I had similar problems with sources 2.1.1-2.2.2, mainly: - inconsistency in declarations and definition of the function/procedure sync() - missing library libmoto (What is this library for?) Accessing the clipboard

I've been reading through the docs but I can't find any method for reading and writing to the Macintosh clipboard. Is this possible with Python 2.2 and Mac OS 9? I am looking specifically for a utility to edit the content of the clipboard, say, change the HTML links to lowercase or remove/add quote symbols and I can't find a decent utility to do this, so I figured I'd try to write one and make a CSM our of it. I've looked over PLPlot (see SourceForge) and it looks pretty nice. It's free, but looks well supported. My question: Has anyone actually installed this package on their Mac and used it in Python? The claims in the documentation are that it is doable, but not much info on how, except for the Unix end of things (maybe that means Unix approach using OS X, I don't know). Is this usable in system 9? By compiling with Codewarrior? I've done some Google searching, but haven't come up with much online. Install manager engine available

Folks, the install manager for Python we discussed last fall is available. At least: the engine is. At least: there's enough of the engine that it managed to install Numeric and PIL, and actually notice it had done so:-) It is called the Package Install Manager for Python and it lives in Lib/plat-mac/pimp.py. If you wonder about the name, think that "it may be shabby, but it gets you what you need" :-) There's docstrings all over the place, and that is also the only documentation. The pimp module has a minimal commandline interface, I'm going to work on a GUI next. It only works for Python 2.3a1 on MacOSX 10.2 at the moment, but I would at least like it to work for older Pythons and older MacOSX releases as well, so any help there is appreciated. I would like it if people could test this with other packages (wxMac, PyOpenGL, PyObjC, etc), and if they could test it with binary packages. For 2.3a2 I would like to have a sizable number of packages in there (at least the 5 mentioned above, maybe more). During development I guess it's probably best if I am the maintainer of the pimp database, but I would like to push that responsibility off as soon as possible, so if anyone feels like doing this: please speak up! If you try this with your favorite package and notice there is functionality missing: speak up! I would like to keep functionality as minimal as possible, but no smaller. (As an example: I had to add the preInstall functionality today because "python setup.py install" isn't enough for PIL. Building Mac extensions for Apple Python

Hi all, I've taken some time out to try out the new MacPython extensions to Apple's included Python, but I'm getting errors when trying to build. I'm on a TiBook 1 GHz running 10.2.3 and I do have the MachOPython 2.2 framework install for wxPython support. I'm wondering if this could be interfering in some way, and if so, should I remove the framework MachOPython completely or build the latest version?
