Use Siri and Voice Control to play music on iPhone
You can use Siri or Voice Control to control music playback in the Music app . See Ask Siri on iPhone and Use Voice Control instead of Siri on iPhone.
Use Siri
Summon Siri, then make your request. Siri supports a wide variety of commands:
Play Apple Music: You can play any song (โPlay โIโm a Messโ by Bebe Rexhaโ), artist (โPlay Ariana Grandeโ), album, playlist, or station. You can play music on AirPlay 2-enabled devices in a specific rooms (โPlay the latest album by Christina Aguilera in the living room.โ) You can also play popular songs from different years (โPlay the top songs from 1990โ).
Let Siri be your personal DJ: Say something like โPlay my Chill Mixโ or โPlay something I like.โ
Add music from Apple Music to your library: (Apple Music subscription required) Say, for example, โAdd โNobodyโ by Mitski to my Library.โ Or while playing something, say โAdd this to my library.โ
Add a song or album to a playlist: While playing a song, say something like โAdd this song to my Workout playlistโ or โAdd this album to my Sunday Morning playlist.โ
Find out more about the current song: Say โWhatโs playing?โ, โWho sings this song?โ, or โWho is this song by?โ
Play songs based on their lyrics: (iOS 12.1.1 or later) Say โPlay the song with the lyricsโ and then say a key phrase from the lyrics.
Use Voice Control
Turn on and use Voice Control.
Note: When you turn on Voice Control, you canโt talk to Siri.
In Settings
, turn on Voice Control.
Say any of the following commands:
Play or pause music: Say โPlay music.โ To pause, say โPause,โ โPause music,โ or โStop.โ You can also say โNext songโ or โPrevious song.โ
Play an album, artist, or playlist: Say โPlay album,โ โPlay artist,โ or โPlay playlistโ followed by the name of the artist, album, or playlist.
