Basic network guidelines with Remote Desktop
The configuration of your network devices determines Remote Desktopβs performance, reliability, and usability. Use the tips listed below to optimize your network performance and work environment when using the Share Screen, Observe, and Control commands.
If youβre using a wide-area network (WAN), make sure that the defrag bit is turned off on your network devices so packets remain intact.
Organize computers youβre administering into small groups, and quit the Remote Desktop app when youβre not using it. This can reduce network traffic by reducing the number of status queries.
Use separate computer lists for clients with different connection methods (Ethernet or Wi-Fi). If you have a group of clients with particularly slow connections, create a separate computer list for this group. A single slow connection can affect network operations.
