Share iTunes libraries on a local PC network
You can set up a maximum of five computers on a local network (such as a home Wi-Fi network) to share their iTunes libraries with each other. If a shared computer is turned on and iTunes is open, you can play that computerโs shared items on other computers in the network, but you canโt import the shared items into their libraries.
If you want to import items from iTunes libraries on other computers in your home network, you can turn on Home Sharing.
Share your library with other computers
Go to the iTunes app
on your PC.Choose Edit > Preferences, click Sharing, then select โShare my library on my local networkโ.
Select the items you want to share, or choose โShare entire libraryโ.
To require users to enter a password before they can see your shared items, select โRequire passwordโ, then enter a password.
You can share movies, radio station links and certain audio files (MP3, Apple Lossless, AIFF, WAV and AAC). You canโt share programmes purchased from Audible.com.
Play items from a shared library
Go to the iTunes app
on your PC.Choose a shared library from the pop-up menu at the top left, then double click an item to play it.
Change the name of your shared iTunes library
If you share your entire library, its name appears in the Home Sharing menu on other local computers set up to look for shared libraries. You can change the name that others see.
Go to the iTunes app
on your PC.Choose Edit > Preferences, click General, then type a new name in the Library Name field.
Turn off sharing
Go to the iTunes app
on your PC.Choose Edit > Preferences, click Sharing, then deselect โShare my library on my local networkโ.
