Manage domain registration renewals

If you purchase a domain through Google while signing up for Google services, your domain ownership is valid for one year. After that, you must renew your domain registration to keep owning the domain.

Avoid suspension. Set your domain purchased through Google to automatically renew and make sure your payment method is valid and up to date. Otherwise, your Google services might be suspended and you might lose domain ownership.

Step 1: Find your domain registrar

How you manage your domain registration renewal depends on who your domain registrar is. If you purchased your domain from a partner registrar during Google Workspace or Cloud Identity setup, you can find your domain registrar (host) in the Google Admin console.

  1. Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.

If you arenโ€™t using an administrator account, you canโ€™t access the Admin console.

  2. Go to Menu and then Account > Domains > Manage domains.

Requires having the Domain settings administrator privilege.

  3. You can find your domain registrar by clicking View Details in the Actions column.

  4. If your registrar is Squarespace, Enom, or DomainDiscount24.com, go to Manage registration and renewal in the Admin console.

If you donโ€™t have domain registrar information in your domainโ€™s Status column, you purchased your domain separately from your Google service. To manage your domain renewal, you need to go to your domain registrarโ€™s website. If you need help finding your domain registration host, see Identify your domain host.

Step 2: Manage registration & renewal in the Admin console

  1. Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.

If you arenโ€™t using a super administrator account, you canโ€™t complete these steps.

  2. Click your Domain Registration subscription.

Youโ€™ll see the domain registration renewal cost and expiration/renewal date.

  3. Next to Renewal options, click Change renewal settings.
  4. Choose an option:
    1. To automatically renew your domain 7 days before its actual renewal date, select Auto-Renew my contract. Your primary payment method is charged for the renewal at the beginning of the following month. Your Google services continue uninterrupted.
    2. To let the domain registration expire at its renewal date and suspend your Google services, select Cancel my subscription.
Important: If you want to keep your domain, 7 days before your suspension date, you need to select Auto-renew my contract instead.
  5. If you need to change your renewal payment details, go to Update credit card details and complete the steps.

After you cancel domain autorenewal in Google Workspace, you can't add it back to your account. Contact your domain host if you want to renew your domain.
