Block an email address in Gmail

If you get unwanted emails, you can block the sender in Gmail. After you block the sender, all future emails from them go to Spam.

Block a sender

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app .
2. Open the message from the sender.
3. At the top right, next to “Reply ,” tap More Block "{sender}."

Unblock a sender

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app .
2. Open the message from the sender.
3. At the top right, next to “Reply ,” tap More Unblock "{sender}."

Tip: If you can’t find the sender’s message, you may find it in Spam. To locate the sender’s message, at the top left, tap Menu Spam.

Learn what happens after you block someone

• After you block a sender, all future emails from them go to Spam.
• When you unblock a sender, all future emails from them go to your inbox. If their emails still don’t arrive in your inbox, learn how to fix issues with valid emails in Spam.
• If you get frequent promotional emails and newsletter, but don’t want to block the sender, unsubscribe from the email.

• If you find a suspicious email that asks for personal information, you can report the email for phishing.
